Questions
Is mediation compulsory before court?
In most private family applications you must attend a Mediation Information and Assessment Meeting (MIAM) first, unless an exemption applies — for example where there is domestic abuse or urgency. We can advise whether an exemption is available.
What if mediation does not work?
You can still apply to court. Time spent in mediation is often useful: issues are clearer, and any partial agreement can narrow what the court needs to decide.
Can mediation be done remotely?
Yes. Many MIAMs and mediation sessions now take place by video. We work remotely ourselves and can support you throughout that process.
Is Law Expert a remote practice?

Do you offer fixed fees?
Wherever the work can be scoped clearly, we prefer fixed fees so you know the cost before we begin. Some matters require staged fees as the case develops.
